Smart Garbage Monitoring System

Problem
The current system for waste management includes numerous stages with tremendous man-power. Every time laborers have to visit the garbage bins in the city area to check whether they are filled or not. If garbage bins are not filled, then the man-power invested goes in vain.
Solution
To overcome this type of problems we proposed a system in which we are monitoring the level of the garbage bins and send the notification once the garbage bin is about to fill. This will drastically reduce the wastage of man-power and would enable us to collect garbage only from those places that are about to overflow.
- The Ciscosat Truck App for monitoring the garbage levels of bins and forproviding the best routes to optimize time and fuel consumption and reduce the waste of money.
- The Bin interface for the screen which recognizes the citizen with the analysis of the waste generated and the level in the ranking which rewards the most efficient and respectful people.
- The 3D representation of the Ciscosat with the solar panels in it to receive energy from the sun and the screen to interact with.
- The working prototype of the Ciscosat which features voice recognition, direct suggestions and garbage level monitoring.
Ciscosat Truck App
It has four different sections:
- Overview to receive information about the weather conditions, theconsumption of the truck, the progress of the collection and additional reminders about events, road closed or truck maintenance.
- Route to choose the daily way of the truck depending on garbage level of each bin (with three different colors green-50% full; yellow 50–75% full; red-75% full), the distance, the full consumption and the other trucks paths.
- Alerts to have a list of all the traffic, accidents, events or closed streets in the area.
- Search for advanced search of a specific bin, area, neighbor or truck.
- We focused on the second section to provide a depth view of the route optimization, one of the core features of our product.

2. Cost
- Wheelie bins prices vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. There is not a great deal of difference in cost between retailers, so a standard 240 liter wheelie bin should cost included to India mainland. As the bins are quite large the delivery cost is quite high and most bin sellers absorb this into the price of their bins.

- I would like to know lifetime expectancy of ESP-WROOM-32 Module. By lifetime expectancy I mean the amount of duration before ESP-WROOM-32 Module goes nonfunctional.
- In theory, there’s nothing that wears down in the ESP32 itself. However, the flash chip in a module can lose its information over time. For instance, the GD25Q32 we use in our modules guarantees a flash lifetime of 20 years, minimum. The other thing that can wear down the flash is repeated erase cycles. Normally this shouldn’t be an issue, but if you rewrite the flash often (either directly or indirectly through spiffs/nvs/fatfs/…) this may be an issue.
2. Raspberry pi
- Estimated lifespan of the Pi 1B was around 30–35 years running without over clock and 25–30 years with over clock. The faster CPUs on the 2B and 3B may reduce that a bit. Here over clock means it run (the processor of one’s computer) at a speed higher than that intended by the manufacturers.
- I have ran it for full one month without any pause, still its working fine therefore it is pretty much durable and can run smoothly considering the power supply is uninterrupted.
- It is a rugged board for using this in a project for a long time.

Flow work in project
We proposed prototype solution garbage management in that a dustbin has ultrasonic sensor on top of it.
- Sensor acquires distance, based on it system will calculate how much dustbin is filled with garbage at that moment. Output of ultrasonic sensor will decide how much the dustbin has been filled.
- From ultrasonic sensor Node MCU will get the distance.
- The wireless access point is connected with raspberry pi. Raspberry Pi send collected information from Cisco wireless point to cloud through internet.
- Proposed system has mobile and android application connected to cloud.
- From the cloud concern municipality employee can get information in mobile application.
